Growth occurs whenever you perform new behaviors that are successful. However, real growth is difficult for most adults due to our strong tendencies to automate behaviors and to be self-important and cognitively consistency. These regressive forces cause two major problems: first, we usually lack creative intent – the motivation for thinking up new ideas. Second, we usually lack a growth model – a set of specific guidelines for generating new behaviors and then evaluating whether they are successful or not.

Fortunately, you can reacquire your creative intent and learn new growth techniques by continuing forward in strive4growth. Some of the growth experiments are inspired by Carlos Castaneda's book Journey to Ixtlan – the story of how a blasé graduate student reclaims his creative thinking, desire for growth, and wonder for the world.
